Carl Gales is an African American pianist. At the age of nine, he taught himself how to play the piano with a cardboard box on which he drew a keyboard! Three years later, he played the Mozart Concerto in A Major, no. 23 with the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra. He has performed all over the United States, Brazil, and many countries in Europe. He attended Indiana University for his Bachelor’s Degree and pursued graduate studies at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. His teachers include Caio Pagano, Menahem Pressler, Michel Block and William Black. Most recently, his endeavors have taken him to the Democratic Republic of Congo where he was privileged to teach music to young and eager minds.
