Back / Grįžti THE COMMENT OF YU-LUN CHANG First of all, I must say that I am very grateful to “Teacher’s Centre for Culture and Education of Klaipeda City” for organizing this online competition and all the participants for their efforts and dedications during this difficult epidemic period. I believe that in the process of recording, everyone has already learned a lot from it. In the future, I suggest that you all can still try to record your performance during practice, learn more about your performance through recording, and face all the feedback you receive in the recording honestly. A lot of things can be learned through video recording, because it is equivalent to discovering the problem from the perspective of a third party. For example, by observing the posture of one’s own playing, is the body relaxed enough during the playing process? Is it because the body’s arms are tense and stiff, causing the sound to be too direct and hard? Or whether the performance in the film meets the desired voice or phrase ideas that you want to express, etc… A lot of details can be observed in the recording. Of course in the end, you have to make your ears more and more sensitive to sound and music. Visų pirma, turiu pasakyti, kad esu labai dėkingas „Klaipėdos miesto pedagogų švietimo ir kultūros centrui“ už šio internetinio konkurso organizavimą ir visiems dalyviams už pastangas bei jų atsidavimą šiuo sunkiu epidemijos laikotarpiu. Tikiu, kad darydami įrašus visi iš to daug ko išmokome. Mokantis ateityje siūlau ir toliau įrašinėti savo pasirodymus, nes iš jų ir atsiliepimų apie pasirodymą galima daug ko išmokti. Darydami vaizdo įrašus, mes tarsi matome save iš šalies. Pavyzdžiui, ar įraše stebėdamas savo laikyseną, matai jog kūnas tuo metu yra pakankamai atsipalaidavęs? Ar ne todėl, kad rankos yra įtemptos ir nelanksčios, garsas yra per daug tiesus ir kietas? Ar pasirodyme visada girdime norimą išreikšti dainingumą ir frazavimą… ir t. t. Įraše galima atrasti daug detalių, todėl galų gale jūs klausydami muzikos, turite lavinti savo klausą. Ir net jei užtruksite dvigubai ar net trigubai ilgiau, tai bus labai vertinga savišvieta. Šias kelias pastarąsias dienas man buvo didelė garbė būti žiuri nariu šiame konkurse. Norėčiau skirti šiek tiek laiko ir pasidalinti su jumis savo asmeniniais pastebėjimais, susijusiais su šiuo renginiu. Tačiau pirmiausia norėčiau pasveikinti visus organizatorius, padėjusius taip pavyzdingai suorganizuoti šį konkursą. Norėčiau padėkoti visiems mokytojams, kurie savo aistra, žiniomis ir kantrybe taip nuostabiai paruošė savo mokinius šiam konkursui, ir ačiū visiems jauniesiems menininkams už pasidalijimą savo talentais, aistromis ir muzikos pagalba atskleidžiant kaip jiems yra svarbu tai, ką jie daro. Būtent dėl jūsų muzikinio atlikimo, man labai patiko girdėti daug įdomių ir įtikinamų interpretacijų, todėl ir toliau nuolat meskite sau iššūkį ir interpretacijose perteikite savo tyrinėjimus. Atraskite kiekvieno kompozitoriaus muzikinio stiliaus elementus, išmokite kiekvieno muzikinio laikotarpio kalbą, istorinius aspektus ir jų atlikimą. Pabaigoje šiuos elementus suliekite su savo muzikine asmenybe bei atskleiskite kur kas daugiau. Interpretuojant muzikinį kūrinį, kiekviename žingsnyje reikia naudoti ne tik išraiškingą melodijos atlikimą, bet ir gerą atmintį, kruopštų muzikinio teksto skaitymą ir kt. Tai taip pat reikalauja visapusiško mūsų pačių įsitraukimo. Kai kuriose jūsų interpretacijose, net jei ir atitinka muzikinis požiūris, man norėtųsi šiek tiek daugiau išpildymo. Daugelis iš jūsų groja nepaprastai gerai, tačiau ne visada sugeba išreikšti visas savo emocijas, kurios, pavyzdžiui, atsispindėtų veido išraiškoje ar kūno kalboje. Tai taip pat yra labai svarbios priemonės, kurios gali padėti perduoti jūsų muzikinę žinutę visuomenei. ELINA BAMBANE (Latvia)
ELINA BAMBANE (Latvia) Back / Grįžti Competition ad libitum Born in 1963 in Ufa, Bashkortostan. She graduated from the Kazan State Conservatory in 1988, where she studied in Natalia Fomina’s class – a former student of Heinrich Neuhaus. In 1995 she graduated from the University of Daugavpils with a Master’s degree in piano teaching methodology. Since 1990 she has taught piano to hundreds of students. As of 2012 she is Deputy Director of Staņislavs Broks Daugavpils Music Secondary School. Together with her colleagues she organizes international music festivals and competitions. Her students continue their studies and work in various cities around the globe as recognized musicians. Elina often conducts public solo performances, as well as plays with orchestra and ensembles in Latgale region, Riga and Lithuania. She is a permanent member of the jury in various international and regional music competitions.

JOHAN RANDVERE (Estonia) Back / Grįžti Competition ad libitum As a charismatic and versatile artist Johan Randvere stands out as one of the brightest stars of the Estonian younger generation of pianists. Performing regularly both as a soloist and a chamber musician Randvere has appeared in venues such as New York´s Carnegie Hall and Great Hall of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. Johan Randvere has given concerts in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Holland, Italy, Belarus, Russia and the U.S. As a soloist he has performed with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Tymen Philharmonic Orchestra, Belarus State Radio Symphony Orchestra, Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, Vanemuise Symphony Orchestra, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, and others under conductors such as Kristiina Poska, Risto Joost, Toomas Vavilov, Grigori Soroka, Jevgeni Shestakof, Jüri Alperten, Erki Pehk, Mihhail Gerts, Sasha Mäkilä, Kaspar Mänd, Jaan Ots and others. Randvere has gained success in numerous national and international competitions, including I prize at the„Klaviermusik” in Vilnius (2008), I prize and Grand Prix at the Catania Music Competition in Italy (2012), I prize and Grand Prix at the“Andrea Baldi” International Piano Competition in Italy (2014), II prize at the EPTA International Piano Competition in Belgium and II prize at the VIII Estonian Nationial Competition of Pianists (2014), to name only a few. Johan is a distinguished chamber musician and regularly performs with many outstanding Estonian musicians. The Randvere Piano Trio received the Audience Award and the Special Award of Holland Music Sessions at the contest festival “Con brio” (2010). Johan began studying the piano at the age 7 at the Võru Music School with Merike Kapp and continued at the Tallinn Music High School with Marja Jürisson and Prof Ivari Ilja, continuing at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre with Prof Ivari Ilja. From 2012-2015 Randvere also studied at the Milan Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory with Prof Valerio Premuroso. Currently he is working on his PhD in the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in the class of Prof Ivari Ilja. CARL GALES (USA) Back / Grįžti Competition ad libitum Carl Gales is an African American pianist. At the age of nine, he taught himself how to play the piano with a cardboard box on which he drew a keyboard! Three years later, he played the Mozart Concerto in A Major, no. 23 with the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra. He has performed all over the United States, Brazil, and many countries in Europe. He attended Indiana University for his Bachelor’s Degree and pursued graduate studies at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. His teachers include Caio Pagano, Menahem Pressler, Michel Block and William Black. SKIRMANTĖ KEŽYTĖ (Lithuania-México) Back / Grįžti Competition ad libitum The accomplished Lithuanian pianist, Skirmante Kezyte, has been described as “an unusually sensitive and communicative musician, with the stage presence that is modest and captivating at the same time” (Eugene Pridonoff, pianist, Cincinnati, USA). She currently lives in Puebla, Mexico, where she is active both in performing and pedagogy fields. Skirmante joined the faculty of the Conservatorio de Música del Estado de Puebla, where she is a professor of piano and chamber music, having previously taught in Escuela Superior de Música de Fausto Andres y Aguirre (Puebla, Mexico), Central State University (Wilberforce, Ohio, USA) and Miami University (Oxford, Ohio, USA). During her graduate studies at the College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati (USA) Skirmante participated in numerous chamber music festivals, including the Aspen Music Festival (USA) and Darlington International Music Festival (Great Britain) where she discovered her passion and talent for collaboration with other musicians, both instrumentalists and vocalists. She soon became a sought after artist for chamber music and recital performances with faculty from different Music Institutions across the United States and abroad. Skirmante has enjoyed long time collaboration with “Duo Rose” and soprano Moon Sook Park, with whom she gives frequent concerts in USA and Mexico, their latest projects being “Aroma Concert”, an interdisciplinary collaboration between Departments of Food Science and Music at the University of Arkansas and later on the “Hugo Wolf Project”. In year 2010 Skirmante joined Camerata del Conservatorio de Música del Estado de Puebla as their soloist and chamber music partner and together with this group presents concerts in Mexico and abroad, their performances, with the goal to promote Mexican and South American academic music, took them to Italy, USA and recently to Germany concert tours. Skirmante is also co-founder of “Concerto di Donne” Ensemble, a group made up entirely of female performers, exploring the repertoire of women composers who created the musical traditions of the past and present and highlighting their valuable artistic contribution. Siekdami pakelti pedagoginį fortepijono lygį Puebloje, kas dveji metai kartu su BUAP Menų mokyklos fortepijono mokytojais ji vykdo „Pianistinės pedagogikos kursus“. 2013 m. kartu su savo mokiniais instruktore Claudia Stoll ji organizavo ir dalyvavo Reinhardo Flatischlerio sukurtuose „TaKeTina“, ritmo pedagogikos kursuose. NIJOLĖ DOROTĖJA BENIUŠYTĖ (Lithuania-Italy) Back / Grįžti Competition ad libitum After graduating from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in 2009, where she finished her Master Programme in Harpsichord and Music Pedagogy, the class of an associate professor Gediminas Kviklys, Nijolė Dorotėja continues to pursue her further creative path in Italy. She has studied at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, class of harpsichord of professor Giedre Luksaite-Mrazkova. She has been twice awarded a scholarship by the Italian Government for studies at Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome and Alfredo Casella Conservatory in L’Aquila. In 2017, she graduated from a Master Programme in Harpsichord and Historical Keyboard Instruments at Alfredo Casella Conservatory of L’Aquila, a class of professor Andrea Coen. She further worked with Salvatore Carchiolo, Edoardo Maria Belotti, Fiorella Brancacci, Jaques Ogg, Francis Lengelle to improve her harpsichord art skills. Nijolė Dorotėja actively performs at various international events, music festivals and she is often invited as a jury member in international music competitions. Together with the traverse master Luigi Tufano she took part in the 15th International Music Festival Sugrįžimai 2013 and the Nordic Lithuanian Music Festival Birzai 2013 and in 2018 together with Italian mandolinist Francesco Mammola. Together with the Early Music Ensemble of L’Aquila Conservatory, she performed at the Early Music Festival Il Rinascimento suona giovane in the Tivoli Villa d’Este Palace. On the occasion of the Lithuanian EU Presidency, she performed in a concert organized by the Lithuanian Embassy under the Order of the Holy See and Malta, at the Portuguese Embassy to the Holy See in Rome. To celebrate the Lithuanian Independence Day, she perfomed in a concert in the La Sala dell’Immacolata Concert Hall in Rome. Together with Réunion de Musiciens ensemble, she has performed at the International Marco Scacchi Early Music Festivals in Italy and Lithuania. She has also performed at the Museum of the Venice Palace in Rome, Palace of the Grand Dukes in Vilnius, in the concert season of the“I Solisti Aquilani“ at the Auditorium Parco del Castello in L’Aquila, the University of Turin, Assamblea Regionale Siciliana – Palazzo dei Normanni in Palermo, Castle of Trakai (Lithuania), Klaipėda City Concert Hall (Lithuania), Oginskis Noble Palace in Plungė (Lithuania), Castle of Biržai (Lithuania) and many others. She made her solo debut with the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Chamber Ensemble Musica Humana and Čiurlionis String Quartet, the Vilnius Amateur Musicians Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of Rome Santa Cecilia Conservatory, the Baroque Music Orchestra of L’Aquila Alfredo Casella. She has recorded for the Lithuanian National Radio and Television LRT. Nijolė Dorotėja collaborates with various early music ensembles. Together with international baroque music orchestra Stradella Y-Project conducted by Andrea De Carlo, she has performed in the Baroque Music Festival Alessandro Stradella of Viterbo and Nepi in Caprarola, Grandezze & Meraviglie Festival in Modena and the Oratorio del Gonfalone in Rome. She is a founder and Artistic Director of Lithuanian public institution Musica Vitale (a member of ECMTA). Since 2011 she is an initiator and organizer of the Vilnius International Youth Music Competition Scarlatti Award and International Music Festival Le strade d’Europa. Lithuania-Italy. In 2020, she established the international performance agency BAMA – Beniusyte Artist Management Agency, became the Executive Director of the Italian Cultural Association Antidogma Musica and the Project Manager of the Lithuanian public institution Suonatori del granduca. NIJOLĖ DOROTĖJA BENIUŠYTĖ (LT) 2009 metais baigusi Lietuvos muzikos ir teatro akademijos klavesino ir muzikos pedagogikos magistro studijų programas, doc. G. Du kartus laimėjo Italijos vyriausybės stipendiją studijoms Romos Santa Cecilia ir Akvilos Alfredo Casella konservatorijose. 2017 metais, aukščiausiais įvertinimais baigė klavesino ir istorinių klavišinių instrumentų specialybės magistro studijų programą Akvilos Alfredo Casella muzikos konservatorijoje, profesoriaus Andrea Coen klasę. Klavesino meno ypatumus tobulinosi pas Salvatore Carchiolo, Edoardo Maria Belotti, Fiorella Brancacci, Jaques Ogg, Francsise Lengelle. Aktyviai dalyvauja įvairiuose tarptautiniuose renginiuose, konkursuose, festivaliuose. Nuolat tobulinasi senosios muzikos meistriškumo kursuose. Dalyvavo XV tarptautiniame muzikos festivalyje „Sugrįžimai“, Šiaurės Lietuvos muzikos festivalyje Biržuose (2013, 2018). Su Akvilos konservatorijos senosios muzikos ansambliu dalyvavo Senosios muzikos festivalyje „Il Rinascimento suona giovane 2013“ Tivolio Villa d‘Este rūmuose. Tais pačiais metais Lietuvos pirmininkavimo ES Tarybai proga koncertavo Lietuvos ambasados prie Šventojo Sosto ir Maltos ordino rengtame koncerte, Portugalijos ambasados prie Šventojo Sosto rezidencijoje Romoje. Lietuvos Nepriklausomybės atkūrimo dienos progai surengtas koncertas Romos koncertų salėje „La Sala dell‘Immacolata“. Taip pat koncertavo Romos Venecijos muziejaus rūmuose, Vilniaus Valdovų Rūmuose, Trakų ir Biržų pilise, Klaipėdos koncertų salėje, Žemaičių dailės muziejuje, Torino Universiteto Rektorato menėje, Sicilijos parlamento Normanų rūmuose, Akvilės miesto koncertų salėje „Auditorium Parco del Castello“, Romos muzikos instrumentų muziejuje. Su ansambliu „Réunion de Musiciens” koncertavo tarptautiniuose Marco Scacchi senosios muzikos festivaliuose Galėzėje (Italija) ir Vilniuje, Voxonus Festival (Albisolla / Italija). Kaip solistė, 2007 m. debiutavo su Nacionalinės filharmonijos kamerinės muzikos ansambliu „Musica Humana“, Vilniaus muzikos mėgėjų simfoniniu orkestru, Romos Santa Cecilia konservatorijos orkestru, Akvilos Alfredo Casella barokinės muzikos orkestru. Nuo 2017 metų intensyviai bendradarbiauja su Čiurlionio kvartetu. Įrašė Nacionalinei LRT televizijai ir radijui. Kaip klavesinininkė bendradarbiauja su įvairiais senosios muzikos ansambliais. Su tarptautiniu barokinės muzikos orkestru „Stradella Y–Project“ pasirodė Viterbo ir Nepi barokinės muzikos festivaliuose „Alessandro Stradella“ Kapraroloje, „Grandezze&Meraviglie“ Modenoje, Akviloje ir Romos „Oratorio del Gonfalone“, dirigentas Andrea De Carlo. Apart koncertinės ir pedagoginės veiklos, užsiima ir organizacine veikla, yra VšĮ „Musica Vitale“ steigėja ir meno vadovė, Vilniaus tarptautinio jaunimo muzikos konkurso „Premio Scarlatti“ bei tarptautinio muzikos festivalio „Le strade d‘Europa. Lietuva-Italija“ organizatorė ir meno vadovė. 2020 metais įsteigė tarptautinę atlikėjų agentūrą BAMA – Beniusyte Artist Management Agency ir tapo Italijos kultūrinės įstaigos „Antidogma Musica“ vykdančiaja direktore bei VšĮ „Suonatori del granduca“ projektų vadove. 2009 metais baigusi Lietuvos muzikos ir teatro akademijos klavesino ir muzikos pedagogikos magistro studijų programas, doc. G. Kviklio klasę, tolimesnį kūrybinį kelią tęsia Italijoje. Studijavo Prahos HAMU akademijoje, prof. Giedrės Lukšaitės-Mrazkovos vadovaujamoje klavesino klasėje. YU-LUN CHANG (Taiwan-Germany) Back / Grįžti Competition ad libitum Pianist Yu-Lun Chang was born in Taiwan. He received his bachelor’s degree with Professor Grace Chung at Tainan National University of the Arts. With Professor Robert Benz at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Mannheim, Mr. Chang received his master’s degree in piano performance with the highest score of 1,0. Thereafter, he was granted the Highest Performance Diploma (Meisterklassenexamen) with recognition from the faculty in 2019. For his graduation concert, Mr. Chang successfully performed Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 5 “Emperor” with conductor Stefan Blunier and Sinfonieorchester der Musikhochschule Mannheim. Currently, Mr. Chang is freelancing and teaching in Mannheim Area, Germany. (Musikschule Hockenheim, Klavierschule Min and TonARTe Musikschule) As an active soloist, Mr. Chang is the prizewinner of many competitions, including the XXX European Music Competition „Città di Moncalieri“- second prize in category piano with Orchestra Classica di Alessandria (2018, Italy), the Alion Baltic International Music Competition 2018 – first prize and Koltun Artist Agency prize (2018, Estonia), the 8th International Competition “Youth Academy Award“- first prize (2018, Italy), the 4th International Youth Music Competition / „with music through Europe“- absolute first prize and special prize „VIRTUOSITA“ (2018, Lithuania), the 28th Young Musician International Competition “Città di Barletta”- first prize and special prize „Premio Direzione Artistica“ (2018, Italy), the Città di Treviso International Piano Competition- third prize (2017, Italy), the Hong Kong International Music Competition- third prize (2015, Hong Kong), and the Taiwan-Asia International Piano Competition- first prize (2012, Taiwan). Aside from competitions, Mr. Chang attended Music Festivals at Walnut Hill in Boston, U.S.A. Dr. CHAN KIAT LIM (Malaysia – USA) Back / Grįžti Competition ad libitum A native of Malaysia, Chan Kiat Lim received his music certifications in piano, violin, and theory from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) and the Trinity College of Music, London. Awarded the College of Creative Arts Performance Grant from West Virginia University, Lim came to the U.S.A. in 1995 to study with Dr. James Miltenberger. He received his Master’s and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music as a scholarship student of Eugene and Elisabeth Pridonoff. Lim has worked with world-renowned artists and pedagogues such as Dorothy Delay, Masao Kawasaki, Peter Oundjian, and James Tocco. Grounded in the curriculum of the British ABRSM and receiving his conservatory training in the United States, Lim’s particular performance expertise and teaching approach evolved from the fusion of these diverse musical worlds. Winner of several competitions including the WVMTA Young Artist Competition, WGUC Radio Audition, and Music Festival of Lucca Audition in Italy, Lim maintains an active performance schedule. He has been acclaimed for his solo recitals in Italy, Romania, Asia, and throughout the United States. In addition, he has graced such venues as Steinway Hall in New York City, the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., and has performed as guest soloist with several orchestras. His future engagements include recitals at the Northern California School of Music, Morehead State University (Morehead, KY), and UCSI University (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia). Having worked with major collaborative artists, Lim is equally successful as a chamber recitalist. He is well-versed in both the instrumental and vocal repertoire and was engaged by the World Piano Competition as a collaborative pianist. In 2005, Lim began collaboration with bass-baritone Shawn Roy, forming the Lim-Roy Duo. Since their inception, the Duo has made three national tours. Unique in his programming as a performer, Lim is an enthusiastic interpreter of new music. He specializes in Twentieth-century and Contemporary repertoire, particularly by American composers. This interest and specialty have resulted in invitations for presentations and masterclasses at regional and national levels. In 2009, Lim won the Louisiana Division of the Arts Career Advancement Award, which allowed him to release a compact disc under the Centaur Records label entitled An American Kaleidoscope: Song Cycles Through the Lenses of William Bolcom, John Duke, Thomas Pasatieri, and Ned Rorem. This CD on which he collaborated with bass-baritone Roy, features two world-premiere recordings of works by musical giants Bolcom and Rorem. Lim’s creative output is large and diverse. His voice is not only heard as a solo and collaborative pianist, but also as a pedagogical author. His publication eNovativePiano: Multimedia Tools for Developing Musicianship Skills has earned him national recognition. This authorship in collaboration with Dr. Susanna Garcia is the first and only multimedia curriculum available for group piano instruction and has received positive reviews from the national music community. Awarded the Margaret Chauvin Steen Villemez Professorship in Music (2010), Lim is presently an Associate Professor at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where he teaches applied piano, piano literature, graduate pedagogy, and class piano. That he also lectures in the Interdisciplinary Humanities program speaks of his broader research interest. His exceptional teaching skills are reflected in his students who have captured top prizes and awards at regional, national, and international piano competitions.
