Dr. RADEK MATERKA (Poland-México)

The Polish-born pianist Radek Materka has appeared in solo recitals and with orchestras in Europe, North and South America and Asia performing in concert venues such as the Carnegie Recital Hall in New York City, Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City. He has made recordings for Polish, British, American, Colombian and Mexican radio and television and has won top prizes in piano competitions in Europe and the United States. He has been a frequent participant in master classes led by world-renowned pianists such as Duransky, Czerny-Stefanska and Alicia de Larrocha. Materka was selected as one of the pianists-participants in the First International Piano Symposium under the Auspices of the Moscow Conservatory where he was mastering his pianistic development under the tutelage of some of the most renowned piano professors of the Conservatory: Voskressensky, Trull and Petrov. He has been frequently appearing in recitals, concert series and international music festivals throughout the world. As a young pianist, he worked with some of the world´s most esteemed piano professors: John Perry and Daniel Pollack at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, where he received his Doctoral Degree in Piano Performance Dr. Materka is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, the National Music Honor Society. His diverse stylistic interests permit him to perform repertoire that embraces virtually all musical periods and styles. Apart from his solo career, he is a sought-after chamber music pianist and maintains a private studio where he works with young and talented artists preparing them for their future careers in music. Currently, Dr. Materka is Professor of Piano and Chamber Music at the School of Music of the National Institute of Fine Arts in Mexico City.
